Joyful Art Center’s mission is to make arts education and creative experiences accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Through inclusive programs, community partnerships, and adaptive arts opportunities, we use creative expression to build confidence, strengthen connection, foster belonging, and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the arts.

Year-round classes, workshops, homeschool programs, and camps that build artistic skills, creativity, and confidence.

Adaptive Arts

Target Audience

Joyful Art Center serves children, teens, adults, older adults, and families throughout Solano County and surrounding communities. We are especially committed to increasing access for youth, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, families experiencing financial barriers, teens seeking safe and welcoming spaces for connection, and community members who may have limited access to quality arts programming.

Current projects

Teen Program Expansion
With support from a recently awarded grant, Joyful Art Center is expanding programming that provides teens with a safe, welcoming space to create, connect, build friendships, and develop confidence through art.

Boys & Girls Club Collaborative Mural Project
Joyful Art Center is developing a collaborative mural program with the Boys & Girls Club. Youth will participate in the creative process—from developing ideas and designs to helping paint the mural—while Joyful Art Center artists guide the project to a professionally finished community artwork.

Arts Programming for At-Risk Youth
Joyful Art Center is developing arts programming for youth involved with the juvenile justice system, including young people on probation. Through hands-on art experiences, participants are given opportunities for positive self-expression, skill building, connection, and creative confidence in a supportive environment.

Organization goals

Our key goals include:

Increase Arts Access by reducing financial, physical, and developmental barriers to participation.
Expand Adaptive Arts for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Grow Teen Programming that provides safe spaces for creativity, connection, confidence, and belonging.
Reach Underserved Youth through partnerships and programs serving youth experiencing barriers or involvement with the juvenile justice system.
Strengthen Community Partnerships with schools, nonprofits, agencies, and other organizations to bring arts programming into the community.
Develop Community Art Projects that encourage collaboration, youth voice, and community pride.
Build Organizational Sustainability by diversifying funding, strengthening staff capacity, and developing the resources needed for long-term growth.

Leadership

Cristie Baron, Founder & Executive Director
Cristie Baron leads Joyful Art Center’s programming, partnerships, community outreach, fundraising, and strategic growth. Her work is rooted in the belief that art should be accessible to people of all ages and abilities and can build confidence, connection, and belonging.

Board of Directors
Joyful Art Center is guided by a Board of Directors that provides governance, financial oversight, community perspective, and strategic support as the organization continues to grow.

Administrative Team
Our administrative team supports the day-to-day operations of the organization, including program coordination, family and community communication, enrollment, partnerships, marketing, and operational systems.

Teaching Artists & Program Staff
Our team of dedicated teaching artists and program staff brings diverse creative experience and a shared commitment to providing welcoming, high-quality arts experiences throughout our community.

Together, our board, leadership, administrative team, and teaching artists work to strengthen Joyful Art Center and expand access to meaningful arts experiences throughout Solano County.
